The High Desert Memory Recreation Center is a community-based program in development, created to provide a safe, dignified, and joyful space for individuals living with memory challenges. Our goal is to reduce caregiver stress and strengthen community support while offering purposeful and creative engagement for every participant.
Amber Legowski has spent over a decade designing and leading award-winning dementia care and activity programs across Southern California. Known affectionately as the \"Alzheimer’s Whisperer,\" she brings compassion, innovation, and leadership to every project she touches. Her vision for the High Desert Memory Recreation Center was inspired by a need for more local resources for caregivers and families in Yucca Valley and surrounding communities.
In recent years, the Morongo Basin has seen a rise in Silver Alerts and cases of senior wandering. Through structured social programs, community partnerships, and memory-specific recreation, our mission is to enhance safety, connection, and quality of life for our seniors while giving families peace of mind.
